The Difference Between Fashion and Style.

|
Looking at these two pictures you could possibly say that these 3 dudes are pretty fashionable for "rappers" (rappers in quotations because not all 3 of these guys are Rappers). All having an "urban" or more/less "suburban" style.

This picture is from GQ magazine, saying that Wale, Drake, and Kid Cudi have "killed" the "gangster image" of rappers now a days. I totally disagree. What is the so called "Image" of a Gangster? I've seen thugs in dress shirts, Gangsters in suits ? ? I think their music (which actually have substance and content) "kills" the gangster rappers music, not image.

But back to the origianl reason i started this post. "The Difference Between Fashion and Style"
so what is the difference?
here are some quote of what people said on Yahoo Answers:

"Style looks good no matter what the fashion. Fashion only looks good in it's time"
"Style is ur own trend or in my opinion it's like ur taste in chosing stuff, is mostly about what u put on or wear or anythin related to trend,clothes,make-up and accessories"
"Style means own choice which suite to a person and fashion means adapting the latest things popular in the new generation"
"Fashion is only what is "in" at that specific time or season.. Where as style looks good no matter what and technically shouldn't date"

Some of the quotes above are pretty good at summing up Fashion vs. Style. I would have to say:

"Fashion is the clothes one is wearing, Style is how one wears the clothes"

Prime example : Mr. West and Mr. Timberlake. Both in semi-business casual fashion (aside from the jeans on Kanye), but look how they differ. Jus from the one more un-buttoned button on Kanye shows how their styles are different. Even on Justin, if his shirt was un-buttoned down one more, it would totally change the "image" "style" that is portrayed.

Now as for these "Gangster Rapper Killers" LOL

Look at each of them... All Fashionable. But such great deal of different style. For example, look at their pants, all wearing jeans. Drake- Loose baggy. Cudi- Slim Skinny. Wale- Skinny and sagging. Look at their shoes, Drake- Tim's (arising fashion). Cudi- Chucks (Timeless Fashion). Wale- Nike Foams(HomeTown Fashion). Now for the Tops Drake- White Tee/White Hoody/Jacket(prolly a name brand of some short) Cudi- Bright Ass Jacket. Wale- Graphic Tee (prolly BBC, Supreme, THs, or STUSSY) with a black Jacket.
Now overall: Drake- Looks like something Jay-Z was wearing in 2002. Cudi- Typical Hypebeast Look of New Yorks inner city. Wale- Looks like a semi-thug an has emphasis from the shoes and shirt (i think the beanie set off the thug apperance).

But White Jacket on a Plain white shirt, is not a good look, and then having Brown Boots on with it. or a Bright muliti-colored jacket that matchings nothing from the rest of your outfit is not a good look. As for the Poofy ass Jacket, im not too sure about, (thats a style thing) but i think they should have stayed in the Hilfiger days. also if the graphic in the shirt was silver it would have a better correlation with the shoes.

With That being said, go look at the 1st picture in these post. Who has style?

Women Fashion Movement.

So today this girl walks in my class wearing a pair of Gauchos. Now im not knocking these style of pants but its been a good while since i have seen someone wearing them. You remember every girl in 2006 hopped on this trend, even if they shouldnt be wearing them they still had a pair. The Gaucho pants only lasted for 6-9months and i hated every bit of it.

Then i began to think what are the women of 2009 wearing? Answer Below: With the whole spandex craze starting early 2009(maybe 08) i can def say that i would perfer these over the overly size trash bag blankets of the Gaucho Pants for women. lol serious though. Its funny to see how clothing is getting tighter on women as well as men over the past 3 years, from tshirts grazing the knee caps to actually fitting ones correct size. From Sagging Over Waisted Jeans to still Sagging Slim Skinny Jeans. What would you prefer? Gauchos or Spandexs? Loose and Baggy or Tight and Slim?

Greensboro, North Carolina

|
So the last two saturdays nights (sunday mornings) I was out in Greensboro to hit some clubs with my man Steven and his boy Charles. If you never been you NC, greensboro specifically, Im going to try my best to show you what you will see. This will not compare to actually being there what soo ever!

TRANSPORTATION:
The Brighter/Louder the better!
They Put Rims on anything. (Dodge Caravan. it dont matter)
Music blasts from speakers inside and also through the horn!?
Wheels are a must! Sitting HIGH!

FOOD:

The CookOUT. This restaurant is gutter.
Its like a checkers with a double drive threw but on the same side! YEA!?
No inside to sit down and eat

The meanu board was gutter
(no pictures of the food!)
Though the prices where cheap!
I only had a small fry(which was delicious at 4:30am) and a "HUGH" size Coke!
Oh and they had about 40+ different Shakes/Floats

CLOTHING:

Everyone there looked like they was Lil Boosie, Gucci Mane, OJ the Juice Man, any rapper with "LIL" in front of their name or any rapper that has a song with a dance to it.
Iced out:
Grills
Chains
Watches
Necklaces
Earrings
They look like they came out the Cash Money Millionaires HOT BOYS videos or sometype of deal.
I wont even begin to explain the clothing "style" of the south. The pics below explains a lot.
I will just have to stay that im so greatful for living in the DC Metro Area when it comes to clothing styles.

CLUB:

We went to two different clubs the two nights I was in greensboro. 1st Music City and then The N' Club. When we first got to Music City it was "looking thick!" as my man steven would say. But when we was in line to get into the club, Bamma's started throwing bullets in the back of the building so we decided to have our good time else where. LMAO. So we ended up at the N' Club.
For some reasons both times we went to the N' club they was charging 25$ to get in!
and some how each time Steven got us in for 10$ a peice and VIP!? It makes not sence how he does it and I dont even ask! lol

FEMALES:

As for the Females in Greensboro... I dont have any pictures. But think of your average Hood Rat and times that by 3. lol (not all the females though, but most.)

Tuck-In Your Shirt Young Man!

|
So im thinking about starting a new trend... or reviving and old one. I think the whole "shirt tucked in" look is pretty clean. check out the early trend setters:

The Fellas from SandLot

The Greaser Gang

Mr. Morris

The Fonz and Richie

And of course The Prince

SHOTGUN!

|
This summer the word "ShotGUN" was one of the commonly used words/phreases amongst the crew. We would argue the rules just about everytime there was a discrepancy. I have found the official rules/history/exceptions of ShotGUN! you can read the Full Official Shotgun Rules for yourself. Here are some good ones that my fellow crew needs to follow! You know who you are.

+You Must Say The Word "Shotgun"
You must say the word "Shotgun" to stake your claim on Shotgun. This must be done clearly and loud enough so that at least one other to-be occupant of the vehicle can hear you. No variations of this word are acceptable. After you have rightfully called Shotgun, you have exclusive rights to Shotgun for that ride. However, if no one hears you call Shotgun it is still fair game for everyone.

+The Deed Must Be Done Before Shotgun May Be Called
For these rules to work properly, it is essential for you to understand and accept the concept of the "Deed". Shotgun may only be called after the "deed is done". Simply stated, the deed is any activity or objective that directly precedes the ride in the automobile. The deed can be anything ranging from a visit at a friend's house, to a shopping trip at the mall, to a visit to the Grand Canyon. We cannot stress how important this is because this establishes a Shotgun-calling time frame that ensures everyone has an equal chance of recognizing when to call Shotgun.
There is no crime greater than calling Shotgun on Monday in reference to the ride to the concert on Friday. Some people choose to play this way, and they are fools.

+You Must Be Outside To Call Shotgun
The best way to establish exactly when the deed is done is to define this moment as the instance that you have left the building in which the deed took place. All passengers need not to have exited, but someone must hear you call Shotgun.

+The Line-Of-Sight Rule
In the situation of the deed being a hike or other extensive outdoor activity, you may not call Shotgun until the automobile is within your sight. This rule needs only to be used when the passengers are outside for a long time and have traveled long distances from the car, as with a day of snow skiing.

This is where is all goes down. The main focal point and place to meet in our nieghborhoods. Wheather stopping by for 5 minute or stopping by an ending up staying the whole night, this is where is all started and continues. From playing cards, recording in the studio, watching movies/tv, getting your wig spilt, useing the computer, clowning, bullshit or reminiscing about music, sports, high school, and everything that happend in the past 7 or so years. These pics are from the past 7 years. The main focus in each picture is the couch and if you dont recognize the couch you are prolly not a very close friend. Also check how much the living room changed over time.
